The Magic of Barack Obama
When a conventional candidate declares an intention to run for the Commander-In-Chief, he/she is incessantly diced and weighed in the national media in order that the electorate can really understand the candidate's values, virtues and vision for the future. More often than not, past scandals are brought to life...this sure will bring Rudy to his kneels, an history of corruption is recaptured in the national press, and--as in the case of John Edwards--a deceptive voting record is decried. In the case of Senator Barack Obama of IL., when analysed by the national press, all we see is a life lived in conviction, a spirit striving for the truth, and a heart bent to serve those most disadvantaged in our society. We occasionally hear some petty smears of him been a smoker from some of his detractors...smears that sincerely have no significance in national reconciliation, smears that are a pitiful departure from our independent way of life as Americans.
America should take it as a blessing in getting a fresh blood that zealously wants to change the nature of destructive politics in our congressional halls, that wants to alleviate the suffering of the impoverished, that wants to bring a sense of dignity and unabashed reverence to the highest office in the land. Obama's candidacy is unlike any other, and many politicians don't know what it entails. Just recently, a long-time Senator and now the Senator for Delaware, Joe Biden, when announcing his own Presidential ambitions, was touched by the Obama charm and praised him as being "clean-cut", actually being the first "clean-cut" African-American Presidential hopeful he has ever seen. He described him as a new phenomenon, a new ideological face in African American politics. Smart, Harvard-Educated and an average guy out to change the course of the world is the most apt summarisation of the Obama mystery. And beyond the envy emanated by some black politicians, past the issues of race and religion, Obama is set to win the Presidency come 2008. And America will be The Great America ever after. Say Hooray for Obama. Welcome Mr. President!
