Joe Lieberman Joining Republicans

All indications are that Independent Joe Lieberman, who prefers to be called a Democrat, but acts like a Republican, may indeed be planning to fully clad the Republican attire, complete with the Republican gusto. In a preview of the upcoming Times Magazine issue, which is slated March 3 but will be on the stands tomorrow, Lieberman confirms being an effective contributor to the aspirations and interests of the Republicans. In it, Lieberman regards breaking from his mainstream Democratic party and tilting the votes on vital legislation as a "remote possibility". He so much appears to be leaning on the Republican side that any one would confidently call him "the John McCain of the Democratic party". Joe Lieberman and John McCain are quite similar in that they don't necessarily kow-tow to their party's policies and often vote haphazardly on important bills. For whatever reason, Lieberman may actually be playing games to stay a relevant figure in important legislation...playing a lone sheep whose moment of need bloats in the public eye with much power. He's an inflated balloon. Without air it's nothing. For Lieberman, having power seems to be more important than actually gaining it or retaining it. He's content with proxy power. His is a power of the moment and he capitalizes on it...he always keeps in touch with the Bush administration and breaks, more often than not--and conspicuously on the Iraq war--with his self-acclaimed Democratic party. Is the former Vice Presidential candidate chasing the wind or is there an substance in sight...we will know much sooner that you might think. For now, lets hope that he sticks to his Democratic party...or..the heck he may just remain as an Independent. Actually, an independent Independent.
